Ages of Consent in Florida

Age of Majority (general age of consent) – 18 years (F.S. Ann. §§ 743.01; 743.07)

STD/HIV Services – Minor may consent independently (F.S. Ann. § 384.30)

Drug/Alcohol Abuse Treatment - Minor may consent independently (F.S. Ann. § 349.499)

Mental Health Services

(1) a minor must receive express and informed consent from their guardian, unless minor is seeking outpatient crisis intervention services under § 394.4784 (F.S. Ann. § 394.459(3)(a))

(2) any minor 13 years or older may independently consent to receive outpatient diagnostic, therapy, evaluation, and counseling services (F.S. Ann. § 394.4784)

Emergency Services – Minor may consent independently in an emergency (F.S. Ann. § 743.064)
